Lester calls Carol for an important job. A renter needs to move quickly. He tells Carol, “I got a job that needs to be done right away, on Andrew Street, up North. The renter needs to move in. She’ll really love you if you do this right away.”
So, Carol quips, “If you say you love me, I’ll do it.”
But Lester can only say, “I really need this.”
So, she answers, “Okay, because it’s you, I’ll do it.” And she gets to the place after lunch, with her gear. There isn’t too much to do. It’s a small one-bedroom unit on the main floor of a house. But to her surprise, Lester shows up. They stand close on the porch, talking about the unit. Carol sees him looking at her lips as she talks, and she does want to kiss him. His face is so red and flushed, she wonders, is he embarrassed? But then, a renter pulls up so Carol is disappointed, while Lester steps out to meet the renter.
Carol goes back into the house, while the song “Only You” plays on the radio.
